Funeral services for Charles A Hamilton, 51, of 527 E Second st. Newport, veteran Newport patrolman, who was killed when his auto overturned on Alexandria Pike, Ft Thomas, Tuesday, were held at 2 pm Friday at the Vonderhaar & Stetter funeral home. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
An escort of Newport patrolmen, under the direction of Sergeant Henry Venard, headed the funeral procession. Six patrolmen bore the casket containing the body of the patrolman. The pallbearers were Morris Hodesh, Joseph Mahoney, George Clinkenbeard, August Schoo, Martin Doyle and James Ratican.
Funeral services for Mrs. Addie M Silver, 42, of 534 Monmouth st. who was riding with Hamilton and was also killed, were conducted Friday at Hamilton O. her former home. A check for $1000, the first to be given to the beneficiary of a deceased member of the Newport Police Department, was given to Mrs. Jennie Hamilton, mother of the dead patrolman.
