Charles Sandhas, Willow and Evergreen Avenue Southgate, who went to the Army a few months ago and was stationed at Camp Wheeler in the intelligence unit, has been selected to take officer's training at Ft Benning Ga. "Wolf" as Charley was known, was an athletic star in northern Kentucky for several years, playing cage, softball, baseball and football. He was a star pupil in mathematics and Latin in a Newport high school.
His parents received word from him late Thursday that he would be sent to Ft Benning soon. His brother, Leo, nationally known as an amateur boxer and lightweight champion some years ago, is stationed with an air unit in the Middle East, his parents learned Thursday..
