Joe and Henry Chalk Saloon

Wets Victorious Again
Two juries composed of representative citizens of the upper part
of Campbell County yesterday acquitted Joe and Henry Chalk, saloonists at
Gubsers Mill, of a charge of violating the Sunday closing law, in Magistrate
James McCrone's Court at Mentor Ky.
The cases were tried separately and in each instance the jury deliberated but five minutes. That the Laymen's League is meeting with little success in its fight to close the saloons on Sunday is evidence by the fact that of 12 cases tried, 11 saloonists were acquitted, while one jury was unable to agree.
