MRS. SCHABELL DIES AT BOOTH HOSPITAL

Mrs. Catherine Scherrer Schabell, Alexandria pike, Highland Heights, mother-in-law of Fred W. Winkler, prominent northern Kentucky businessman, died late Friday at Booth Hospital following a month’s illness. She was 85. A member of Campbell county’s earliest families and a lifelong resident of the county, Mrs. Schabell lived in Cold Spring, in the section now known as Highland Heights, for the past 59 years. She was a native of Newport.

Mrs. Schabell was the widow of the late A W Schabell and the mother of Joseph Schabell, widely known Highland Heights florist. She leaves two other sons, Edward and Ollie, both of Cold Spring; four daughters, Mrs. Alma Winkler, Ft. Thomas; Mrs. Stella Kuhns, Newport; Mrs. Lucy Bruggeman, Cincinnati; and Mrs. Maud Ware, Cold Spring; 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring, following prayers at 8:30 a.m. at the Muehlenkamp funeral home, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday.
