NORTHERN KENTUCKY DEATH

 

Mrs. Catherine Phillips, 60 16th street, South Newport, mother of the Rev. John McDermott, fourth-year theology student at St. Patrick College, Mamooth, Ireland, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital, Ft. Thomas, at the age of 56.

Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church following prayers at 9 a.m. at the Muehlenkamp funeral home, Newport. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home; where members of the Daughters of Isabella will meet at 7:30 p.m. and member of the Altar Society at 8:30 p.m.

Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Altar Society of St. Vincent de Paul Church, Newport; a director of Newport Deanery; the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women; Newport Council, Daughters of Isabella, and the Skyline Homemakers Club.

She leaves her husband, Walter Phillips, Sr.; five daughters, Mrs. Nancy Rodau, Newport; Mrs. Kathleen Davis, Kirkwood, Mo.; Mrs. Dorothy Rueter, Cincinnati; and Mrs. Janet Linse and Mrs. Gay Lukens, both of Ft. Thomas; two other sons, Walter, Jr. of Newport; and Airman 1/c James McDermott, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Bathiany and Mrs. Mary Foellger, both of Ft. Thomas; three brothers, Leo Gunning, Cincinnati; Bryan Gunning, Covington; and Frank Gunning, Newport, and 12 grandchildren.
