NEWPORT NEWS
DEATH OF A VETERAN-Caspar Ertel, a soldier who has been in the
service of the United States for twenty years and was in both the Florida and
Mexican Wars, died at the Newport Barracks yesterday. Deceased was a
native of Baden, Germany, and was a man of considerable culture.
He was buried with military honors.
