Captain Case Thomasson, of Fire Company No 1, of Newport, left Monday for Springfield O. to visit his father in law, Michael Burgman, who fell from a building and suffered a fracture of several ribs.

Case Thomasson, fireman at Company No 1 of Newport, was elected president of the newly organized union Thursday. Altho the office is only temporary, it is thought he will be made permanent president when the charter from the American Federation of Labor is received.

Funeral services for W Case Thomasson, 66, who served Newport nearly four decades as fire chief, safety commissioner, fire captain, fireman and electrician, will be held at the Arthur Dobbling funeral home, Ft Thomas at 2:30 pm Wednesday. Former Chief Thomasson died at his home of a heart attack Saturday after being in poor health several months. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Former Chief Thomasson was safety commissioner of Newport during the dramatic Newport Rolling Mills strike. He had been off duty since March 8. He had been serving recently as electrician in the department.  Suriving him are his widow, Effie; two sons, Louis L Thomasson, Newport and R Case Thomasson, Middlesborough Ky. and a daugher, Mrs. Guy W Crosier, Cincinnati. He resided at 537 E Second street, Newport. Member of the Newport Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
