Kentucky Post, Saturday, 17 January 1903, page 5
Callie Dawson, an inmate of a resort on lower York Street in
Newport, attempted suicide Friday night by the carbolic acid route. A young man
who was present at the time, knocked the vial from her hands and his hands were
severely burned. His name is Charles Viehman.
The police investigated the report and the girl stated she simply wanted to fool her lover and threatened suicide unless he went to his home.
