Private Bert Woosley, an alleged deserter from Company H, Second
Battalion of Engineers, was apprehended by the civil authorities of Brownsville
Ky. and brought to this post for trial.
Owing to the congested condition of the guard
house at this post, and the reduced strength of the garrison since the departure
of the Third Infantry, 10 general prisoners will be removed to Columbus Barracks
early next week. The order for the transfer of the following prisoners was
received Saturday from the Department of the Lakes:
Arthur A Thompson
Floyd Harrod
Stanley Morrison
William L Reynolds
Clarence P Taylor
Thomas A Lannier
Henry Letourney
William Salmon
Clinton C Buckingham

Breaking away from his guards after he had eaten breakfast in the mess hall at Ft Thomas Ky. Bert Woosley, of Company H, Second Battalion, United States Engineers, serving a years sentence for desertion, jumped through an open widow early Friday and disappeared according to his guards.
Immediate search was made for Woosley and one of his guards has been held pending an investigation of the escape. Woosley is described as being 22, with brown hair, blue eyes, weighs about 140 and is 5 feet 8 1/2" tall. His enlistment papers show he was from Big Reedy Ky. Police of neighboring cities have been notified to be on the lookout for him.

Sergeant Stapleton, Company C, Twenty-seventh, brought in Private John (sic) R Woolsey, an escaped general prisoner, formerly a member of Company H, Second Battalion Engineers. Woolsey while serving sentence in the post guardhouse, made his escape while working in the mess hall as a trusty. He was arrested at Rylands Ky. a small town across the Licking River from the target range.
