Berry Chapel Methodist Evangelical Church

Between Ross and Melbourne Kentucky

On the 1883 Lake Atlas lower eight mile road comes into twelve mile turnpike and T Berry is across the road from the Berry Chapel.  James Taylor's 1591 acres were located between Ross and including part of Melbourne. In 1867 James Taylor conveyed 24 acres 3 rods 30 P and 58 1/2 acres between the turnpike and Ohio River and in 1871 134 acres at lower eight mile and twelve mile turnpike to Taylor Hubbard Berry.  In 1871 Taylor Berry conveyed 1/4 acre to the Methodist Church South part of 58 1/2 acres.  Around 1900 the Berry Chapel M. E. Church was put on rollers and pulled by horses to Melbourne.

Taylor Hubbard Berry was born February 6, 1820 at Jamestown, Kentucky the son of Hubbard and Agnes McKinney Berry and grandson of Washington and Alice Thornton Taylor Berry. The Berry's were members of Taylor Street Methodist Church in Newport.

East of Berry Chapel was the Ross Post Office with  Henry H Berry as Postmaster and Ross Elementary School.

West of Berry Chapel was Henry Trutschel and wife Elizabeth both born in Germany.  In 1867 Henry Trutschel acquired 40 Acres from James Taylor Jr.  In 1880 Henry acquired 26 5/8 Acres.  In 1886 Henry acquired 68 3/8 Acres from Taylor H Berry.  In 1893 Henry and Elizabeth conveyed the 68 3/8 acres less 1 acre to their son Louis.  In 1901 Henry Trutschel Heirs conveyed to Catherine Trutschel DeMoss 26 5/8 and 40 acres.
