NEWPORT
Two children, a little boy and girl, of a wretched woman named
Bayless, have been taken under the protection of
the city. At the last meeting of the City Council it was decided to bind the
girl, aged ten years, to the service of John Stone,
of this city, the boy, aged seven years, to remain
in care of the keeper of the Poor House until further disposition can be made of
him.
