AN INFIDEL PRINTER DEAD
Nashville-Tenn. February 20, William S Bailey, a printer, eighty years old, a leading infidel and publisher of the infidel paper, the Liberal, died here today. He was well known throughout the North.
Cincinnati people will remember Bailey as the publisher of the Free South in Newport and the Leader in Covington many years ago. His vigorous anti-slavery editorials created a strong prejudice against him, and on several occasions his presses and type were thrown into the river by the mob. In 1854 the office of the Free South was burned, and in 1859 the Leader was upset into the Licking. He was widely known at that time.
