Gus Hare, who lived in the upper end of the district and whose relatives still reside at the old homestead, enlisted in the old Sixth at the commencement of the Spanish American War, went to the Philippines, and when the Sixth was about to return to this country transferred to the Twenty-ninth Infantry, is now with that regiment, serving as a Sergeant at Ft Douglass, Utah.

Gus Hare, who for 18 years has seen service in the U.S. Army, doing duty in Cuba and the Philippine Islands, is home for a months stay. He will re-enlist with the Second Infantry at Ft Thomas. His brother, Howard Hare, fell a victim tothe cholera while in the Philippine Islands. He brother Gus nursed him until his death, then left for the United States and was soon mustered out of service.
He is visiting friends here until he is assigned to duty at Ft Thomas.

Funeral services for Augustus Hare, 58 Indiana avenue, Ft Thomas, will be held at the A C Dobbling & Son funeral home, Ft Thomas at 2 pm Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. He was 72.
Mr. Hare died Tuesday at his home following a short illness He was a veteran of the Spanish American and World Wars and fought in the Philippine Insurrection. He leaves his widow, Nellie Simms Hare; one daughter, Mrs. John C Bolton, Clearwater Fla. and one sister, Mrs. Emma Waterman, Dayton O.
