August B Billerbeck
Louisville Daily Courier, Friday, 10 August 1866, page 4
A young man residing with his father's famiy, Newport Ky. and employed in the wholesale house of Gordon & FIsher, in Cincinnati, Augustus Billerback by name, was arrested recently and confined in the Hamilton county jail on the extraordinary charge of embezzling $80,000 from is employers. His bond being placed at $60,000, he was unable to obtain temporary liberty. This charge has greatly astonished and pained the many friends of the young man and his family, as he has always had a good reputation in society. It is intimated that the young man's counsel are confident of their ability to prove the money went in an entirely different direction from that alleged by his accusers.
