PIONEER WOMAN DIES

Mrs. Anna V Wright, widow of W L Wright, died rather suddenly yesterday morning at her late residence on Overton street, aged 60 years.  Heart trouble was the cause of death.  Mrs. Wright had been a resident of Newport nearly 50 years and was of a deeply religious and charitable turn of mind.

She originated the Army and Navy Auxiliary during the Spanish War and many wounded and sick soldiers and sailors were succored through this agency.  She was an ardent and enthusiastic worker in St Paul's P E Church.  Her daughter is Mrs. W L Morkill, who was at her bedside when she died and she has a son, Huston Wright, at present in Indiana.

The funeral will take place tomorrow with services at St Paul's Church.
