A daring attempt to burglarize the home of Joseph Gilker at 17
East Fourth Street, Newport, was prevented by the appearance of the housekeeper,
Miss Anna Morgan. She was preparing things in the kitchen, and heard a noise in
the dining room.
Entering she saw a young man with the window raised and one foot on the inside. She asked him what he wanted and his reply was that he was in the wrong house. He escaped.
