Andrew Mohret, 71, for over a half century a resident in Newport and a highly respected citizen, died shortly after 10 pm Sunday night at his home, 1016 Washington Avenue. He suffered a stroke of paralysis some months ago and never fully recovered. He lingered uncomplainingly until the end came.
He was a retired leather merchant and had reared an interesting family of boys and girls, all of which survive him with a widow. They were: Fred, Clara, Anna, Frank with the Wurlitzer Company in Cincinnati; Will and Arthur all grown.
The funeral will take place on Wednesday. Services will be held at the house on 1:30 and 2 pm at Salem M E Church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

FUNERAL - The funeral of the late Andrew Mahret took place
Wednesday afternoon from the German Salem M E Church, Newport. The pastor Rev E
Roser, conducted the services assisted by Rev Joseph Lucock, pastor of the Grace
M E Church.
The body was taken to Evergreen Cemetery and placed in the vault. The pall
bearers were Charles Voige, Robert Winstel, Walter, Clarence and Clifford Kountz
and Edward Wendt.
