Dayton, Ky., Banker Is Dead: Stricken In Cincinnati Office

Andrew (Andy) Gerrein, President of the Bank of Dayton, Sixth and McKinney Aves., Dayton, Ky., collapsed yesterday in the Second National Bank, Ninth and Main Sts., Cincinnati, and was pronounced dead on arrival at General Hospital, where he was removed by the Life Squad. Mr. Gerrein, who was 77 years old, apparently died of a heart attack. Relatives said he had been under treatment for a heart ailment.

Mr. Gerrein was widely known in Dayton, where he had passed his entire life, and was active in civic and fraternal affairs. He lived at 313 Sixth St, Dayton.

Prominently identified in local banking circles, Mr. Gerrein had been Vice President and a Director of the Citizens Loan, Savings and Building Association, with offices in Dayton Bank, for more than 40 years. He was named a Director of the Bank of Dayton in 1907 and became President in 1929. Mr. Gerrein retired from the cement contracting business which he had operated in Dayton for more than 25 years when he assumed his duties as President of the bank. His sister, Miss Emma Gerrein, who made her home with him, died November 17. He was a member of the Eagles Aerie, FOE 1285, the Holy Name Society of St Bernard Church, both of Dayton.

Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Clara Gerrein, and a brother, Fred Gerrein, Newport. The funeral will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday from the Muehlenkamp funeral home, Dayton. Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9 a.m. at St. Bernard Church. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. tomorrow. Holy Name Society of St. Bernard Church will meet for prayers at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, and will be followed by the Dayton Eagles at 8 p.m.
