Services will be held at 2:30 pm Monday at the Fred A Erschell funeral home, Newport, for Alfred D Wendle, a veteran of World War I, who died at his home on Mary Ingles Highway, Ft Thomas, as a result of a heart attack he suffered while mixing a glass of lemonade for a visiting legionnaire. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Campbell County Coroner Leo Sauter who investigated the death learned that Mr. Wendle was in the kitchen of his home when he collapsed. The legionnaire with him was Edward Uthe, 647 Park avenue, Newport. Mr. Uthe called a physician, who pronounced the victim dead. He was 51. A member of the American Legion, Robert Burns Lodge of Masons and the Board of Directors of the Campbell County Protestant Orphanage, he was formerly a bartender at the James Wallace Costigan Post of the American Legion and was lately associated with Leo G Broering real estate office.
He leaves a sister, Margaret Wendle and a brother Wendle, both of Newport.
