NEWPORT NEWS

ARRIVAL OF PRISONERS-Four prisoners, Marcus L Miller and G Atkins, from Morgan County, William P Carter from Johnson County and Alexander C Martin from Prestonsburg, reached the Newport Barracks yesterday, in charge of a guard.

They were all taken by Colonel Garfield's soldiers on the Big Sandy. The three first named were taken with arms in their hands. Martin was especially recommenced to the commandant at the garrison as being a very mischievous rebel, who would require looking after. This accession swells the number of prisoners at the Barracks to twenty-four.
