PFC Alan W Mitchell, 26, son of Mrs. Gertrude Mitchel, of 141 Ohio avenue, Ft Thomas, died Sept 26 at Palau of wounds suffered during the invasion of the Pacific Island, his family was advised. Entering the Marines in January 1942, Pfc. Mitchel has been on overseas duty for the past 17 months. A brother, Thomas is now serving with the armed forces somewhere in the Pacific.
Besides his mother and brother, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Richard Hardesty and Miss Mary Lou Mitchell who is an employee of the Cincinnati Post.
