Kentucky Post, Tuesday, 16 July 1895, page 7

A post mortem examination of the remains of the late Adam Wagner, was made yesterday by Dr. Eichberg, Dr. Walker and Dr. Gunckel and disclosed the fact the deceased had been suffering from some time from the effects of a severe bruising of the bowels and which was the cause of his death. About three years ago, Mr. Wagner, while living in Chattanooga, fell over a banister to the floor below, striking his stomach on the foot post of the stairway, since which time he has been a constant sufferer. The physicians say his wonderful vitality is all that prevented him from dying within three months after the accident.

The funeral will occur at 2 pm tomorrow from the German St Paul Church on Eighth Street, Newport. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery. The following pallbearers have been chosen; From the German Society, Henry Eppert, Charles Theis, George Lear and Louis Hoch; From the Pioneers, William Stapf, Ernst Belzner, August Koekle and Hugh Schafer; From the APA, L D Ermert, Jacob Kormann, Henry Tapking and J Aschenbach.

A post mortem examination was made on the body of Adam Wagner yesterday morning by Drs. Gunckel, Walker and Eichberg, to determine the cause of his death. The autopsy disclosed that death was caused by congestion of the bowels, the remote cause being attributed to a severe contusion of the organs sustained three years ago when Mr. Wagner suffered a fall at Chattanooga, colliding with a banister post. The physicians marveled that his vitality could have withstood the effects so long.

Mr. Wagner's funeral will take place this afternoon. Services will be held at the German Protestant St Paul's Church by Rev Gerke. The following pall bearers have been selected: Henry Ebert, Charles A Theis, Louis Hoch and George Lear, from the German Society; Ernest Beizner, Hugo Schafer, August Koekle and Wm Stapt, from the German Pioneers and Louis D Ermert and Jacob Kohrman, from Martin Luther Lodge.
