Two barrels of alcohol were seized by Warren Stutzman, special agent of the Department of Justice, Cincinnati, at the extract plant of A Colker & Co, 323 York st. Newport, late Tuesday. The agent arrested Abe Colker and his son, Harry Colker, 27, of 20 E Third st. Newport, on charges of possessing, transporting and advertising ingredients for the manufacture of ginger extract for unlawful purposes.
Colker and his son are engaged in the manufacture of ginger extract. Stutzman contends that the ginger extract being sold for beverage purposes. The alcohol was seized after the officials learned from a New York firm that it had been shipped to Colker. Harry Colker was taken to the office of Ed Pflueger, US Commissioner, Covington, where he furnished a $1000 bond. A bondsman appeared later and signed a bond of a smaller amount for the father, who is said to be ill. The Colkers will be given a hearing Jan 14 before Pflueger.
