CRUSHED TO DEATH
William Ellis, a colored man, met with an accident on the Newport
and Cincinnati Bridge yesterday that resulted in his death. He is employed by
Thomas Moreland, who owns a dairy back of Newport.
Ellis was bringing a load of grain from Newport and when on the bridge approach, he fell from the wagon and a front wheel passed over his body. He was picked up and put on a Newport street car and taken to Newport.
The engine house wagon was called and took him to the home of Mr. Moreland where he died a few minutes after. He was a man about sixty years of age and well known in Newport. Coroner Winston held an inquest and rendered a verdict of accidental death, in accordance with the above facts.
