NEWPORT
Colored Men in Cutting Affray
William Carter, colored, was perhaps fatally cut by
James Mayberry, also colored, yesterday afternoon at the home of
Emma Jamison, colored, in Southgate alley. Carter was badly
cut about the heart and chest.
Sergeant Burnside and Detectives Sheeran and Cottingham took him to Speers Hospital, where it was stated last night that his condition was serious. Mayberry was arrested, charge with cutting to kill.
