NEWPORT

A young colored boy named Welsh, a porter for Maddux & Hobart, had a close case yesterday.  He was engaged in looking at the sights from the bridge and tumbled into the water accidentally.

He went under twice and was picked up by a passing skiff in an insensible condition.  he was taken to the bank and rolled on a barrel and was soon brought around all right.
