Police Pickings

Thomas Grevely, John Walker, James Jones, Ellis Court, Frank Robinson, and Lee Moore, all colored, were arrested yesterday by Detectives Cottingham and Sherman and Office Lindholz, and backed up on a charge of crap shooting.  There have been a number of complaints from the vicinity of Eleventh and Washington avenues concerning colored men who congregate near the railroad tracks there, drink beer and gamble.

The officers were on the watch for the crowd, but when they closed in on the bunch, several of the crowd started to run and Detective Cottingham fired two shots, and this induced them to stop.  Five of the crowd were taken in tow and Moore was later arrested by Officer Lindholz.
