NEWPORT


The colored barber, Saunders, who was convicted at the last term of the Criminal Court of stealing a lot of razors from his employer, and was sentenced to three months imprisonment, managed to escape from the stone pile.

Under pretense of illness he got his irons removed and making some excuse for leaving his place, soon eluded the vigilance of Officers Boyd and Poulson, who were looking for him during the evening.
