NEWPORT
Yesterday afternoon, about 1 pm, a colored man named Nathan
Britton, a barber on Columbia, near Taylor street, in Newport, went up to a look
glass and deliberately placing a loaded pistol to his head fired the contents
into his head, scattering the brains over the floor. He expirect a few minties
later.
He was in pecuniary trouble which is supposed to have been the cause of his committing the rash act. An inquest was held and a verdict returned in accordance with the above the above facts.
