Irene Wilson

Cincinnati Enquirer, 17 February 1890, page 7

Irene Wilson, a well known colored lady, living on Monmouth street, was the recipient of a valentine Saturday. It was not a beautiful missive, bearing words of ardent love, but it was one as ugly as sin and there was some obscene language upon it.

Irene got made and dropped around to a colored neighbor, Mrs. Logan, and accused her of sending the valentine and was going to wallop Mrs. Logan. In order to save herself, Mrs. Logan swore out a warrant before Squire Bradley. Officers Abel Davis and Barrett arrested Irene and she procured bail and had Mrs. Logan arrested on a warrant from Squire Bodkins.
