NEWPORT
While Emma English and John Baker, both colored, were on their
way for a can of beer yesterday near the corner of Fifth and Isabella streets
the former was set upon by another resident colored woman, said by the police to
be Anna Carter and cut badly in the left wrist and right arm.
The Carter woman fled to Covington. Her victim stated that she would secure a warrant for her arrest today.
