Bass Bradford, colored, charged with cutting to kill James McDermott on last Sunday night, was tried in the Newport Police Court before Judge Moore Thursday morning. The Commonwealth was represented by County Attorney Yungblut and Bradford by Attorney Horace Root. Judge Moore took the matter under submission. Both attorneys were in favor of changing the charge, which will probably be done and Bradford will be fined.
