Wilma Evelyn Walston
Wilma Evelyn Walston, 82, of Dillsboro, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at the Waters of Dillsboro. She was born on October 25, 1925 in Sidney, Nebraska, the daughter of Frederick and Clara Reker Bushman. She married Donald Walston on April 8, 1947, and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Jay (Melissa) Walston of Dillsboro, and Tim and (Becky) Walston of Versailles; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son- Steven Walston, and one brother- Dale Bushman.
Mrs. Walston resided in Bear Branch during the 1940’s and 1950’s, before moving to Friendship for two years. For the past 47 years, she has been a resident of Dillsboro. During WWII she was employed at Conn Organ Company in Madison and in later years she worked as a clerk at J&J Liquor and at the Drug Store in Dillsboro. She was active in the 50+ club in Dillsboro, and was a very active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was very active in the LWML of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 28, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Dillsboro. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Trinity Lutheran Church Improvement Fund or to Dillsboro Emergency Unit. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.
Chase Aaron Carroll
Chase Aaron Carroll, 8 week old son of Aaron Carroll and Brandi Ahrens Eaton, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born at Batesville on February 28, 2008
.
Survivors include his parents; his twin brother, Lane David Carroll; sisters Taylor Carroll, Madelyn Eaton and Hannah Eaton; paternal grandparents, Dennis and Debbie Carroll of Osgood; maternal grandparents, David and Brenda Ahrens of Batesville; paternal great-grandparents, Rea and Henrietta Carroll of Osgood and Edward and Virginia Schneider of Sunman; maternal great-grandparents, Mervin and Marjorie Ahrens of Batesville and Robert and Barbara Bishop of Moores Hill.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 28 at the Adams Lutheran Church with Pastor William Powlen officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to the donors choice. The Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles was in charge of arrangements.
Joan Ison
Joan Ison, 73, of Moores Hill, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill with Pastor Rob Daniels officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Moores Hill. Visitation is being held today, Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the family. Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Margaret J. Elsen
Margaret J. Elsen, 61, of Versailles, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at her home. She was born at Beatyville, Kentucky, on October 8, 1946, the daughter of Hallister and Dorothy Perdue Johnson. She married Frank Elsen on May 28, 1963 and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1993.
Survivors include one son, Tony (Candi) Elsen of Versailles; four daughters, Angel (Gary) Hall, Missy Elsen, Lisa (Greg) Fisk, and Lora (Tim) Sexton all of Versailles; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde Johnson of Perryville, Missouri and Jesse Johnson of Cincinnati, Ohio; six sisters, Etta Hardman, Mary Hobbs, April Hawkins, Cathy Johnson, and Ruth Barrett, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Susie Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother, Bob Johnson.
Mrs. Elsen was a 1964 graduate of Western Hills High School and received her associates degree from Purdue University. She was employed with Interstate Brands as a District Supervisor retiring in 2004.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 27 at Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles. Randy Thieman of Shelby Christian Church officiated. Burial was in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, St. John’s Catholic Church, or the Shelby Christian Church.
Rose Etta Norman
Rose Etta Norman, 57, of Mt. Carmel, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Visitation is being held today, Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Brookville. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with James House officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
James E. Horstman
James E. Horstman, 73, of Batesville, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2008. Funeral services were held on Sunday at Batesville United Methodist Church. Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville was in charge of arrangements.
Patricia A. Sizemore Stuehrenberg
Patricia A. Stuehrenberg, 47, Greensburg, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis. She was born, August 18, 1960 in Batesville, the daughter of Kenneth Sizemore and Edna Mae (Forwalt) Powers and Michael Powers. She was married to Frank Stuehrenberg on September 6, 1997 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Garrett Kieffer and friend Dana Manier, Osgood; one daughter, Angela (Brent) Scudder, Greensburg; four stepchildren, Krista Stuehrenberg, Seymour, Mindy Vogel, Greensburg, Kelsay Stuehrenberg, Greensburg, Chialey Stuehrenberg, Ripley Co.; one brother, Clarence Michael Powers, Greensburg; two half-brothers, Jamie Sizemore, Ripley Co., Kenneth Sizemore, Ripley Co.; nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 29, at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses. Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Omer W. Miller
Omer W. Miller, 92, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 1 at 1 p.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday, from 12 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in memory of Omer to the Hospice of King’s Daughters’ Hospital or Jefferson County Animal Shelter. Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison is in charge of arrangements.
