Roger A. Williams

Roger A. Williams, 75, died Saturday, May 8, 2004, at University Heights Convalescent Center in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis and a former resident of Greenwood.

He was born Aug. 31, 1928, in South Bend. His parents were Omer and Mildred (Kelver) Williams. He married Linda (Shutters) Williams on Dec. 28, 1982, in Greenwood. She survives. Other survivors include a stepson, Andy Wonn of Olney, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Jill Loomis of Indianapolis; a brother, James Williams of South Bend; two grandchildren; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Alan Williams.

He was employed by Indiana State Teachers Association as a lobbyist for 20 years, retiring in 1987. He was formerly employed as a chemistry and physics teacher for Valparaiso High School for 13 years and LaPaz High School for one year.

He was a member of New Hope Church in Greenwood.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Church, 5307 W. Fairview Road in Greenwood. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center in Indianapolis is handling arrangements
