Mrs. F. C. Williams, formerly of this city, where Mr. Williams edited the Daily Herald for a number of years, died at their home in Washington, D. C. the latter part of last week of heart failure. The remains were taken to her former home in Newark, N. J., where they were interred on Tuesday. Mrs. Williams was widely known here as a good Christian lady and her death has caused a feeling of sadness to her many friends here.

OBITUARY.

Mrs. F. C. Williams died Monday, December 22, at her residence, 34 R. St., Washington D. C. She was born in Stillwater township, Sussex county, New Jersey. A lady of great worth, well thought of, and respected by all who were acquainted with her. A more loving, faithful and devoted wife no man ever had. She was a good neighbor, ready to answer the cries of the needy at the hour of midnight. A woman without bodily strength, yet did more work daily than many who were very much stronger. She passed away peacefully, without regret and in hope of a happy resurrection. I think that all by whom she lived would give the same testimony, that she was kind and gentle to everyone and especially so to the erring. I have seen a good many devoted wives but none more so than the subject of this sketch. “I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.” St. John 11; 25, 26.

(Tribute of respect from the pen of Mrs. A. B. Colton.)
