The death of Wm. T. Shipp occurred at 12 o’clock New Year’s night. Mr. Shipp was enjoying his usual good health during the day previous to his death, and no one suspected that he would be aroused from his slumbers ere the morning should dawn, to witness the death throes of one of his loved ones. Deceased was born in Hart county, Ky., April 15th, 1846, and moved to this county when but a young boy. He served 19 years as a soldier, whence he contracted the dreaded disease—consumption, and was discharged from the regular service a few years ago. He was married Feb. 5, 1896, to Miss Effie Sandefur, daughter of Henry Sandefur and wife. He leaves a wife, two brothers and three sisters and a number of friends to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted at 2nd Mt. Pleasant church by Rev. P. O. Duncan, from James: 4 13–14. The sermon was very pathetic and sympathetic. The family has the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
