RALPH POPE

Ralph Pope, 70, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at his residence in Indianapolis.

He was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Dublin, Ga. His parents were Autell and Millie (Norris) Pope. He married Alice J. (Britt) Pope on Dec. 4, 1956, in Jeffersonville, Ga. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, Gary Pope of Indianapolis, Ralph E. Pope of New Whiteland, Robert W. Pope of Franklin and David A. Pope of Valparaiso; two daughters, Kathleen Godfrey of Greenville, S.C., and Diane Erwin of Indianapolis; two brothers, Ray Pope of Indianapolis and Billy Pope of Dublin; two sisters, Annie West of Indianapolis and Mary Tucker of Macon, Ga.; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

He was employed as a mechanical engineer for 16 years by Wonder Bread Co. in Indianapolis, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of Garfield Park Church of God in Indianapolis.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

The Rev. Robert Carroll will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, State Road 135 Chapel. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
