Patricia A. Paxton, 71, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at her residence in Pelham, Ala. She was a former resident of Greenwood.

She was born Nov. 21, 1929, in Indiana. Her parents were George R. And Ruth (Royce) Craft. She married Richard F. Paxton in Pelham. They were married for 53 years. He survives. Other survivors include three sons; Tom Paxton of Maui, Hawaii, Bob Paxton of Pelham and Andrew Paxton of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Ruth Simon of South Bend; a brother, Dobbs Craft of Greenwood; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

As a registered nurse, she taught nursing in Fort Wayne. She was also the owner of The Cubby Hole, a vintage clothing store in Louisville, for 13 years.

She was a co-founder of Friends for Hope, a support group for cancer survivors and their caretakers. She was also a board member of Chandalar Home Owners Association and a secretary of Chandalar Garden Club. She was an avid artist and a member of a water color group in Louisville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. Friends may call from noon to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at G.H. Herrmann Greenwood Funeral Home.
