Notes: The 1880 US Federal Census for Jackson Township, Shelby County, Indiana records fifty-two-year-old, Virginia-born farmer Lewis Niebel, his fifty-three-year-old, Pennsylvania-born wife Catherine Neibel, and their Indiana-born children, twenty-three-year-old Joseph, twenty-year-old Lora, seventeen-year-old Charles, fourteen-year-old Emma and eleven-year-old Walter Niebel.
The Shelby County Indiana WPA Death Index, 1882–1920, referencing Book H-21, page 23, records that Catherine Neibel [sic], a seventy-two-year-old white female, died 15 Aug 1899 [sic] in Shelbyville.
