Mrs. Inez E. Newkirk, 48, Dies Monday

Mrs. Inez Evelyn Newkirk, 48, wife of Clarence S. H. Newkirk, of Cortland route 1, died Monday at Jackson County Hospital in Seymour. She had been in ill health the last five months.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:15 p.m. Thursday at the Burkholder chapel in Seymour and at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Waymansville by the Rev. Donald Matzat. Burial will be at Waymansville Lutheran Cemetery. Persons may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Burkholder Funeral Home in Seymour.

Born in Shelby County April 21, 1918, she was the daughter of Leo and Oma Wirey Kelley. She was married to Mr. Newkirk at Waymansville Oct. 26, 1940.

Mrs. Newkirk was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Waymansville and was a Sunday school teacher there. She was also a member of the Kum-Join-Us Home Demonstration club.

Surviving with the father living in Edinburg are the husband; three children, Jean, Michael and Kenneth Newkirk, all at home, and a brother, Paul Kelley of Louisville, Ky.

Mrs. Inez Newkirk Dies At Seymour

Mrs. Inez Evelyn Newkirk died yesterday at the Jackson County Hospital. She is the daughter of Leo Kelley, 601 N. Grant St., Edinburg.

A resident of R.R. 1, Courtland, Indiana, Mrs. Newkirk had been ill for about five months. Funeral will be at 1:15 P.M. Thursday at the Burkholder Chapel, Seymour, and at 2 P.M. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at Waymansville. Burial will be at Waymansville Lutheran cemetery.

Mrs. Newkirk was born April 21, 1918 in Shelby County to Leo and Oma Wirey Kelly. In 1940 she was married to Clarence F. H. Newkirk, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Jane, Michael, and Kenneth, all at home, and a brother, Paul Kelley of Louisville, Ky.

She was a member of the Waymansville St. Peter Lutheran Church and a Sunday School teacher there. She was also a member of the Home Ec Club, Kum-Join-Us. Friends may call after 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Burkholder Funeral Home.
