Bernice L. Lowes

Bernice L. Lowes, 79, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009.

Bernice was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Salk County, Wis., to Cyril and Myrna
(Richardson) Outcalt. She married Malcolm "Bill" Lowes on June 15, 1947.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary Eileen Lowes (John) Tolle, Effie Marie
(Tom) Hogue and Marcia Evelyn Lowes (Mike Yoder); four siblings, Leonard
(Brenda) Outcalt, Earl (Lois) Outcalt, Fred (Linda) Outcalt and Dolores (Jim)
Pumphrey; five grandchildren, Donna (David) Cook, Rob (Joanny) Toll, Jessica
(Jeremy) Kersey, Ryan Lowes and Larissa Lowes; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; and a son,
James A. Lowes.

Bernice was a busy homemaker, taking care of her family and the "Lowes Happy Hen
Farm." She was an avid community member, with membership and services at Gray
Road Baptist Church, Oasis, Franklin Township Farm Bureau secretary and board
member, Franklin Township Republican Club and board, 4-H club since 1974, Senior
Promise of St. Francis Hospital, Franklin Township Civil League, AARP and
Franklin Township Historic Society.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre
Funeral Service, Stirling-Gerber Chapel, 5650 E. Thompson Road, Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will
take place at Acton Cemetery.
