Robert Ray Hughes
  Robert Ray Hughes, 80, died
Thursday, June 6, 2002, in
Indianapolis. He was a resident of
Indianapolis.
  He was born Dec. 14, 1921, in
Turkey Knob, W.Va. His parents were
William F. and Rachel (Stone)
Hughes. He married Margaret
Kathleen (Hankins) Hughes. She
survives. Other survivors include
four daughters, Carol Barthalow,
Sheridith Hughes, Judith Bedell and
Margaret Patton; four grandchildren; 
and three great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by a sister,
Hazel Treadway.
  He was employed as a supervisor in
transportation and central services
for Methodist Hospital for eight
years, retiring in the early 1980s.
He had been a missionary minister
since he was 16 years old.
  He was a U.S. Army veteran of World
War II.
  A graveside service will be
conducted at 2 p.m. today at
Lincoln Memory Gardens in
Whitestown. Friends may call from
11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at
Shirley Brothers Thompson Road
Chapel.
