Robert S. “Bob” Butterfield Sr., the father of Morgantown resident Gail L. Glaze, died Sunday, August 29, in her Indianapolis home. He was 85.
Mr. Butterfield was born July 26, 1914, in Indianapolis to Albert Porter and Hazel Kelly Butterfield.
He was married to Dorothy M. Davis. She died in November 1982.
Mr. Butterfield had worked as a control wiring technician at Freyen Brothers Mechanical Contractors before retiring.
He had been a member of the Murat Shrine, Indianapolis Valley of Scottish Rite, Indianapolis Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star, Indianapolis 500 Old Timer’s Club and Destroyer Escorts Sailor Association.
Mr. Butterfield was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include a son, Robert S. Butterfield Jr. of Shelbyville; another daughter, Linda S. Landrum of Gosport; a brother, Al Butterfield of Medway, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
A service was conducted Thursday, September 2, at Singleton and Herr Mortuary in Indianapolis.
Burial was in Johnson County’s Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
