Dempsey ‘Willie’ Bush

Dempsey “Willie” Bush, 64, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was a resident of Columbus.

He was born April 8, 1934, in Columbus. His parents were Alex and Molly (Baker) Bush. Survivors include seven brothers, Harry Burbrink and Robert Bush, both of Franklin, Charles Bush of Rawlins, Wyo., Chester Bush of Fort Mitchell, Ala., Fred Bush of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Perry Bush of Tampa, Fla., and Tom Bush of Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Ruth Webb of Columbus, Bertha Ferguson of Seymour and Della Criswell of Greenwood; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters.

He graduated from Brown County High School in 1952.

He was an Army veteran, serving as a sergeant during the Korean War.

He was a final parts monitor for Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus for 30 years, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin and American Legion Post 205.

The Rev. Kent K. Kirchmeyer will conduct a service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, State Road 44 West, Franklin. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Vandivier-Tudor Funeral Home in Franklin and from 9 a.m. until time of service Tuesday at the church. Military graveside rites will be conducted at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus by the Columbus American Legion Post 24, Columbus VFW Post 1987 and Columbus DAV.

Dempsey Bush

Columbus resident Dempsey “Willie” Bush died Saturday, December 19, 1998, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was 64. Mr. Bush formerly lived in Brown County.

He was born April 8, 1934, in Columbus to Alex and Molly Baker Bush. Mr. Bush had attended local schools.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving as a sergeant during the Korean War.

Mr. Bush had worked as a parts monitor for Cummins Engine Company in Columbus for 30 years, before retiring in 1995.

He was a member of First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Franklin and the American Legion.

Survivors include seven brothers, Harry Burbrink and Robert Bush, both of Franklin, Charles Bush of Rawlins, Wyoming, Chester Bush of Fort Mitchell, Alabama, Fred Bush of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Perry Bush of Tampa, Florida, and Tom Bush of Miami, Florida; three sisters, Ruth Webb of Columbus, Bertha Ferguson of Seymour and Delia Criswell of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.

The Reverend Kent Kirchmeyer led a service Tuesday, December 22, at First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Johnson County.

Burial was at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.
