Elizabeth Burton

Elizabeth Burton, the mother of Nineveh area resident David C. Burton, died Tuesday, March 17, 1998, at St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers in Beech Grove.

A resident of Indianapolis, she was 75.

Mrs. Burton was born January 27, 1923, in Leatherwood, Kentucky, to Colson and Cassie Walker.

She and Fred Burton were mar­ried at Vicco, Kentucky, in 1939. He survives.

Mrs. Burton had worked as a cook at Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis) for four years. She was also a home­maker.

She was a member of University Heights Baptist Church.

Other survivors include five daughters, Sheila Gray of Browns­burg, Jeanette Vincent of Clover­dale, Imogene Gualden and Beulah Cottrell, both of Indianapolis, and Kathy Spears of Naples, Florida; four other sons, Leonard L. Burton of Hamilton, Ohio, James D. Burton of Houston, Texas, Jack R. Burton of Ogden, Utah, and Anthony W. Burton of Indianapolis; a half-broth­er, Jeb Adams of Morristown, Tennessee; 24 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Chaplain Darrel Crouther led a service Friday, March 20, at Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home in Johnson County.

Burial was in Johnson County’s Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
