DEATH OF MRS. YOUNG.

Mrs. Rachel Young, widow of the late Jonathan Young, died Monday morning at 10:30 o’clock at her home on North Walnut St.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the residence, conducted by Rev. W. J. Wright, after which the remains were laid to rest in Greenlawn.

Rachel Harris Young was born April 5, 1846, and was the oldest daughter of John and Jane Province Harris, being one of a family of seven children, three of whom have preceded her to the land beyond, namely Mrs. Hannah Rivers, Mrs. Rebecca Deer and the late Samuel Harris. Those living and left to mourn her are one brother, Jesse T. Harris of Greenwood, and two sisters, Mrs. Sid Clark of Providence and Mrs. Lewis T. Deer of Trafalgar.

She was united in marriage to Jonathan Young, April 25, 1867. To this union was born one son, Livy A., who with his wife and daughter, are left to mourn the loss of a mother and grandmother.

Early in life she united with the Christian church in Providence and was ever an ardent worker in all Christian enterprises. Upon moving to Franklin she with her husband at once united with the Christian church at this place and was a regular attendant at all church services. This and her many acts of kindness bespeak for her a memory to be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

During her two years of suffering she was always patient and kind and only awaited the time when she should be called to that home described by the Apostle John, there to be united with her companion who had preceded her some three years.

She was a true and devoted wife, a loving mother and a kind and obliging neighbor. Her chief aim in life seemed to be to help those around her and at no time in life did she seem more happy than when she was sacrificing to the aid of someone else.

The memory of this noble Christian character will be cherished as a rich heritage by those who knew her best.
