Death of Zach Williams.

Zach Williams, a well-known citizen of this county, died Monday morning at 5 o’clock at his home in Needham township. Mr. Williams had been in poor health for some time, yet his death came unexpectedly, the immediate cause being hemorrhage of the bowels.

His sons, Thomas and Steve Williams, of this city, spent Sunday at their father’s home. He was able to walk to the table for both dinner and supper and no member of the family was expecting so sudden a change for the worse as resulted a few hours later. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Second Mt. Pleasant church, conducted by Rev. J. O. Ledbetter.

Deceased was born in Henry county, Ky., in 1834, and when eighteen years old came with his parents, Thomas and Matilda Williams, to Indiana, settling in the edge of Shelby county, in the Jollity neighborhood. In 1861 he was married to Ruth S. Sandefer, daughter of James B. Sandefer. To this union nine children were born, all of whom are living. Wm. Williams, the oldest son, lives in Wabash. A daughter, Mrs. Sadie Keith resides in Shelbyville. Thomas and Steve are in business in this city, John and Earl, with their sisters, Florence, Roxie and Lillie reside with their mother, who survives her husband.

Deceased was a man universally esteemed by his neighbors and acquaintances, and in his death the county loses a good and honorable citizen.
