Mrs. W. J. Williams, wife of Professor Williams, who was superintendent of the Franklin public schools for six years, died at Kokomo Thursday evening, Nov. 16th, of consumption. Mrs. Williams contracted a severe cold about a year ago and this settled on her lungs. Hoping that a change would effect a cure Professor Williams resigned his position here and took her to Colorado Springs, Colo., but they returned to Martinsville for a few weeks having obtained no relief in the western climate. They then removed to Kokomo that she might have the even temperature of the gas heated rooms. She was the daughter of Dr. Chas. Brackett, who died while in the army serving as a surgeon at Helena, Ark., three children are left, Fred, Margorie and Edith. The remains were brought to Franklin last Friday afternoon and taken to the residence of Professor D. A. Owen. The funeral occurred at the Baptist church, of which she was a member, Saturday morning at 8:30 o’clock, Rev. E. S. Gardiner conducting the service. He spoke most feelingly on her life, for she was very highly esteemed by her friends in this city. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The Ladies Friendship Club, of which she was a member, sending a design in the shape of a pillow, with their name. The burial was at Greenlawn cemetery.
