Grim Death’s Deeds
The funeral of a young child of Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Wilks [sic] occurred at First Mt. Pleasant, on Tuesday.

A small child of John Wilks [sic], of Trafalgar, died of scarlet fever on Monday. Six of his family [have] been down with the disease.
