––––

James Ware, aged 85 years old, one of the oldest residents of the county, died at his home south of town Sunday morning about six o’clock. He came, when a young man, with his father, from Virginia, and settled near the present site of Furnas’ mill. He had thus been a citizen of this county ever since its organization. About three months ago he was stricken with paralysis, losing the power of speech. This he did not recover except to say one or two words. His death Sunday morning came suddenly, the immediate cause, it is presumed, being apoplexy.
